Chris Leach

Born in England in 1970. A graduate of Wimbledon School of Art, London.

The mainstay of my work is drawing, I am interested in how drawing can be used as a tool for both psychological and representational investigation. I am interested in questions of personal and social identity. My work considers notions of value, scale and proximity. It seeks to interogate architectural and physical spaces within particular contexts or environments. The mainstay of the work utilises archival materials and procedures that have their roots in the history and conservation of art. The works are intricate and finely detailed drawings, they are about proximities and relativities of scale on both a psychological and material level. They are constructed to encourage an intimate response, enticing the viewer towards the surface of the composition as a point of mediation between the image and the elements that make up the work.
