Maryanne Royle

Maryanne Royle is a neurodivergent artist from Rochdale who explores the idea of the body as landscape through her work in sound, installation, performance and photography. She works across disciplines often with collaboration at the heart of her process. Her work was described by The Quietus as a “hauntology-laced dispatch of prime strangeness” part of what they refer to as “New Weird Britain”.

Maryanne studied Ba Intermedia at Edinburgh College of Art before returning to the North West and becoming a part of artist communities in Rochdale and Central Manchester.

Maryanne was shortlisted for Cultural Champion in the Rochdale Sports and Culture Awards 2022 and has been awarded sponsored Associate Membership with Castlefield Gallery 2023.

She is currently working on projects in partnership with Leeds 2023, Leeds industrial Museum, Leeds Arts University, West of England Visual Arts Alliance, The Brunswick Club, Ebor Studio and The Whitaker Museum.

She is Programme Manager of Ebor Studio and Gallery FRANK.
